With days left until the election, the AKP has begun to calculate through the polls it commissions the number of seats it and its partner the MHP will take. By the AKP’s calculations, the MHP is falling short of the twenty seats needed to form a group in parliament.

In this election, the AKP is not swerving from its tendency to leave nothing to chance and take each of its steps in line with polls. Based on polls, calculations are being made in the ruling party over the 24 June elections as to the number of seats it and its partner the MHP can take.

It would appear that the AKP, which previously targeted 301 for itself alone, will be satisfied this time round if it gets 301 together with the MHP. By the AKP’s calculations, very little separates the Nation Alliance that along with the HDP constitutes the opposition and the People’s Alliance in terms of their parliamentary vote. The difference between the ruling party and opposition is forecast to be in the region of 10-20 seats.

 MHP falls short of 20

The most striking forecast in the AKP’s calculations is the number of the MHP’s seats. These show the MHP falling short of the twenty seats needed to form a group in parliament.

If this calculation by the AKP comes to fruition, the MHP will cease to number among the parties having a group in parliament.

The talk in the lobbies is that the polemics of recent days involving the AKP and the MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli himself has to do with the competition of this nature going on over numbers of seats.

By the AKP’s calculations, the CHP to a large extent holds on to the roughly 130 seats it possesses. Fresh calculations indicate that Meral Akşener’s Good Party, whose true electoral support will become known for the first time, will be represented in parliament with more than fifty seats. The HDP, according to the same calculations, scrapes in at above the ten per cent threshold and keeps its present number of seats.
