CHP Deputy General Chair and Party Spokesperson, Selin Sayek Böke, reacting to Numan Kurtulmuş’s words, ‘If ‘yes’ prevails terrorism’s voice will fall silent,’ said, ‘Sooner or later democracy will win. Do not threaten; do your job.’ Böke said, ‘This is both an admission and a threat.’
Böke said, ‘This is an admission because through this comment he has palpably said that the government has turned a blind eye to terrorist organisations and so our people have been massacred. It is a threat because this means if you say ‘yes’ and bring in a single-man regime terrorism will end, and if you say ‘no’ it will continue.’
SAYING ‘NO’ FORBIDDEN
Young members of the Communist Party of Turkey were prevented by the police from handing out ‘No’ leaflets in Amasya. There was also an attack by 25 people on the headquarters of the Kamu-Sen trade union, which has announced that it will say ‘No’ in the referendum.
