Snap probe over HDP congress (12.02.2018)
Ankara Republic Chief Prosecution has launched an investigation into HDP Ankara MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder and HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan over their comments at the HDP congress.
cumhuriyet.com.trAn investigation has been launched into HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan and HDP Ankara MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder over comments they made at the HDP’s third Ordinary Congress held yesterday.
By way of justification for the investigation launched by Ankara Republic Chief Prosecution, it was alleged that through the unfurling of the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan's poster in the congress auditorium and comments that were made, terrorist organisation propaganda was made and this included the offence of inciting the people to hatred and enmity.
It was said in the statement made by Ankara Republic Chief Prosecution, “An investigation has been initiated by the Republic Chief Prosecution into MPs Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder for the offences of making terrorist organisation propaganda, inciting the people to hatred and enmity and praising criminals in relation to the unfurling of the separatist terrorist organisation leader’s poster, the endeavoured portrayal of the Olive Branch Operation, which is being staged within the bounds of international law and in a legitimate manner by the Turkish Armed Forces against terrorist organisations, as being against the civilian Kurdish people and comments having the nature of praise of a terrorist organisation leader and organisational propaganda at the HDP’s third Ordinary Congress held in Ankara.”
