It has been learnt that Prime-Minister Yıldırım has instructed that ex-officio probes be launched into allegations of defamation against all those in high state office, not just the president, at the latest Cabinet meeting.
PENAL CODE IS SILENT
Following the instruction, two people have been detained on the grounds of defaming Deputy Prime-Minister and Government Spokesman Numan Kurtulmuş. There is no crime under the heading of ‘defamation of those in high state office’ in the Turkish Penal Code.
