The SEC has denied the CHP’s application for cancellation of the poll

The Supreme Election Council (SEC) has denied the CHP’s application for cancellation of the poll. With ten members voting against, one member voted in favour.

SEC Chair Sadi Güven had said that they would deliberate on the objections made to the referendum results before noon. Güven replied to journalists’ questions when he arrived at the SEC building. To the question of when the objections would be ruled on, Güven said, ‘We will look at the objections before noon.’

While the Supreme Election Council meeting that started at 14.30 hours was in progress, citizens awaiting the result continued their nervous wait. Rapid reaction force teams took precautions in front of the SEC. Riot control vehicles were stationed in front of the institution as a precautionary measure.

The CHP’s application over the unstamped voting slip scandal that took place in the referendum was denied by the Supreme Election Council. With ten members voting against, one member voted in favour.
