STARTS ON FRIDAY
President Erdoğan will enter the public arena for the ‘Yes’ campaign on Friday. Even though Erdoğan has a constitutional duty to be impartial, he plans to hold rallies in forty cities and campaign for a ‘Yes’ vote.
STATE RESOURCES
Political parties will run their campaigns in the referendum process on the limited budget they obtain from the treasury. President Erdoğan, on the other hand, will appear in public using ‘state resources’ and expenses will be met out of concealed payments. Erdoğan will use the presidential plan and staff cars.
PROHIBITIONS WILL NOT APPLY
While all political parties must comply with election prohibitions, these prohibitions will not apply to Erdoğan, who will be exercising presidential powers. Although Erdoğan will be able to say what he wants, the article on defaming the president will hang like the sword of Damocles over the heads of the opposition.
