Aksaray Serious Crime Court No 1 levelled accusations at murdered Sarısülük and the Gezi protests in the reasoning for its decision in which Ahmet Şahbaz escaped with a 10,000 lira fine. Stated in the decision was, ‘Police officers are also authorised to resort to arms and they did not do so.’
The assessment made in the reasoned decision was that the protests were an, ‘organised attack aimed at overthrowing the government.’ As to Ethem Sarısülük, accusations were levelled against him saying, ‘He took part in the attack with stones and picked up stones from the ground shortly before the incident.’
