CARNATIONS FOR NAZIM

The 115th anniversary of the birth of the great master of poetry Nazım Hikmet was commemorated in various events.

His admirers congregated at Tarabya wharf, from which the master poet departed the country in June 1951 following the coercion he had suffered, sailed out into the Bosphorous and threw carnations into the sea. The evening saw the staging of three different events. Actor Rutkay Aziz said, ‘We will take the revolutionary fight forward until the end.’
