5 Libyan soldiers killed in Benghazi attacks
Five Libyan soldiers were killed and ten others injured in two separate attacks Friday in the eastern city of Benghazi, a security source said.
cumhuriyet.com.trClashes erupted between security forces and gunmen in Benghazi's Hawari district, leaving one soldier dead and ten others injured, the source told Anadolu Agency. The violence broke out as the gunmen tried to free a weapons-laden vehicle that had been seized by security forces.
Four soldiers were also slaughtered and burnt by militants as they were driving to their military barracks in the city, the source said. There was no claim of responsibility for the attacks. Libya has struggled to restore order and contain rampant militancy with the armed militias that helped overthrow late Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 holding onto their weapons.
