A moderate magnitude earthquake shook the western parts of Turkey on Saturday afternoon after it hit the west side of Gokceada. Kandilli Observatory announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 6.5. The quake was felt for 22 seconds in major cities of west and southwestern Turkey, including Istanbul, Antalya, and Bursa.

105 people were injured in Canakkale province and its districts during the natural event, it was announced by Canakkale Governor. A degree of material damage was sustained in various places, and problems with mobile phone networks were experienced mainly in Istanbul after the shake.

AFAD, Turkey’s disaster response unit, reported some 38 quakes during the Saturday shake, varying between 3.0 and 6.5 magnitude.
