WE PROMISE TO CREATE HOPE

Two years have passed since literary giant Yaşar Kemal departed from among us. Let these words he spoke in 2011 be a source of hope for us all: ‘I say let there be no fear. There is no need to look at this transient situation that has presented itself and fall into hopelessness... There are those in prisons, at court doors or waiting to enter court doors who live up to the honour of their professions and humanity. They, and those who walk shoulder to shoulder and raise their voices for their rights, prove that our humanity has not yet ended and our indifference has not assumed fatal proportions for us. A human is one who creates hope from hopelessness.’
