Prosecutor objects to Enis Berberoğlu ruling

The Republic Prosecutor at the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice has objected to the ruling on Enis Berberoğlu.

The Republic Prosecutor at the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice has submitted a cassation petition to the Court of Cassation calling for CHP Member of Parliament Enis Berberoğlu, who has been sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of “disclosing information that required to remain confidential” on the allegation that he supplied images of the intelligence agency trucks to Cumhuriyet newspaper’s former Editor-in-Chief Can Dündar, to be sentenced for the crime of “espionage.”
 
The hearing prosecutor at Istanbul Regional Court of Justice’s Penal Chamber No 2 has objected to the ruling imposing on CHP MP Enis Berberoğlu a sentence of five years and ten months’ imprisonment on the count of “disclosing information that required to remain confidential in view of the state’s security or domestic or foreign political interests” regulated in Article 329/1 of the Turkish Penal code
 
Istanbul Regional Court of Justice’s Republic Chief Prosecution, stating that Berberoğlu committed the crime of espionage, is calling for the quashing of the ruling that failed to hand down the life sentence sought.
