Arrest before hunger strike

Nuriye Gülmen, Acun Karadağ, Semih Özakça and his wife Esra Özakça, who announced that they would go on hunger strike on 11 March in the endeavour to return to their jobs from which they were expelled under a decree with the force of law, have been arrested following their comments in parliament.
It has been learnt that the four people have been arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Branch charged with preparing to take action. Gülmen, who has been resisting for 120 days in Ankara, made the comment, ‘They want to reduce us to the state of the living dead.’
