77 RIGHTS VIOLATIONS FROM THE ECHR

Turkey ranked in second place in terms of the number of violations rulings passed by the European Court of Human Rights in 2016. Seventy-seven violation rulings were handed down against Turkey, mostly for breach of the ‘right to freedom and security’ and the ‘right to life’. Ministry of Justice figures show that there were 12,600 applications against Turkey in 2016.
